Charles Bierbauer draws his interests in media, politics and education together as Dean of the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies at the University of South Carolina. The views here are his own, not those of the university. He is a former CNN political correspondent and currently is a consultant and senior contributing editor for SCHotline.com.

Sure, there are always sub-texts. But as an African American woman, I can tell you that I'm voting for the candidate whose plans and priciples I most strongly believe in. And that's Obama, hands down - has been the moment he announced his candidacy, after I read his memoire. Way before Oprah endorsed him.

Oprah is a wonderfully smart and gifted woman, and I'm glad she's giving the person who she believes in a media platform. Of course, he has to close the deal... which I believe he will.

Mr. Bierbauer,

I am using this comment space in lieu of spending any more time tracking down your email address, which appropriately is not listed your department's website. I figure it's not a problem since you review comments to your blog before they are posted.

I'm writing to ask you to take a look at my new blog, citizenjournal.wordpress.com, at your leisure of course. Todays post deals with the state Supreme Court's decision to throw out the wills, trusts and estates section from the July bar exam.

I will be ardently pursuing this new blog and doing my best to make it a success.

I thank you for your time,
Pear Jones
